Purity Kampamba was announced as one of the winners for the ZWES Innovation Challenge with her spectacular project, "MineShield".

is a geotechnical risk intelligence engine for open-pit and underground mines that supports early risk identification and better decision-making.

The inspiration behind MineShield came from recent mining disasters, particularly the Chibuluma tailings dam collapse and the Sino Metals tailings dam failure. Seeing these incidents happen despite the availability of monitoring technologies and large amounts of data made her wonder if she could make better use of the information she already have. That inspired her to develop MineShield to help transform existing geotechnical data into actionable insights, supporting safer and more productive mining operations.
