Nkhosikazi (the widow) of the late Paramount Chief Mpezeni has arrived back in Chipata following the death of her husband yesterday at the University Teaching Hospital.

She was received by the Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary, Nicholas Phiri, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Paul Thole, and other senior Government officials.

David Njengembaso Jere was installed as the Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni in 1982, succeeding his father. He became the longest serving paramount chief.

His Royal Majest Inkhosi ya Makhosi M'mbelwa V mourns Mpezeni.

With a heavy heart, we mourn the passing of my elder brother, His Majesty King Inkosi ya Makhosi Mphezeni IV of the Ngoni people of Zambia.

A king, a father, and a pillar of our heritage has gone home. His wisdom, leadership, and dedication to the Ngoni nation will never be forgotten.

On behalf of the M’mbelwa Kingdom and the Ngoni people of Malawi, I extend deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the Ngoni Kingdom of Zambia, and all subjects.

King Mphezeni IV was more than a monarch. He was a guardian of our culture, a custodian of the legacy of King Zwangendaba, and a bridge that kept the Ngoni people of Malawi, Zambia, and Tanzania united in spirit and tradition.

His leadership strengthened the bond between our kingdoms and reminded us that though borders may divide land, they can never divide blood or heritage.

May Almighty God grant strength to the bereaved family during this difficult time, and may the soul of our beloved King rest in perfect peace.
