MPOX (MONKEYPOX)
RISK FACTORS:
Close Contact with Infected Individuals: Direct physical contact with an infected person's skin lesions, body fluids, or respiratory droplets increases the risk of transmission.
Contact with Contaminated Materials: Handling clothing, bedding, or other materials that have been in contact with an infected person can facilitate the spread of the virus.
Exposure to Infected Animals: Interaction with animals carrying the virus, such as rodents or primates, through bites, scratches, or consumption of undercooked meat, poses a risk.
Travel to Endemic Areas: Visiting regions with known mpox outbreaks elevates the likelihood of exposure.
CAUSES:
Mpox is caused by the monkeypox virus. Transmission occurs through direct contact with the virus from an infected animal, human or contaminated materials. Human-to-human transmission primarily happens through close physical contact, including sexual contact, and respiratory droplets during prolonged face-to-face interaction.
SIGNS and SYMPTOMS:
Fever, Headache, Muscle Aches, Backache, Swollen Lymph Nodes, Chills, Exhaustion.
Rash: Develops 1-3 days after the onset of fever, beginning on the face and spreading to other parts of the body.
PREVENTION and CONTROL
Hygiene Practices: Regular handwashing with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
Avoid Close Contact: Refrain from close physical contact with individuals exhibiting symptoms of mpox. Avoid hand shakes with every
