Your actual people — before the borders were drawn, before the names were changed, before someone else decided who you were and where you belonged.

We did not know for a long time. Apartheid made sure of that. It did not only take land — it took genealogies, languages, identities. It made indigenous people strangers to themselves so they would never rise together.
We found out. And when we did, something in us recognised it immediately. Like remembering something we never knew we forgot.
