RASIMONE YOUTH MARCH TO IMPALA RECRUITMENT CENTRE DEMANDING JOBS

Hundreds of young people from Rasimone, outside Rustenburg, have marched to the Impala Platinum Recruitment Centre, accusing the mining company of overlooking local residents when filling job vacancies.

The protesters, many carrying their CVs, say they want employment opportunities at a mine that operates several shafts and offices in their community.

According to Rasimone Youth secretary Jennifer Motlhamme, Impala Platinum recently recruited about 200 people from outside the North West Province for general worker positions, while many qualified local youth remain unemployed.

The marchers are demanding that the mine prioritise local communities in its recruitment process, arguing that residents living next to the mine should benefit first from available jobs.
