- *Load shedding impact*: Load shedding has contributed to the decline, with a noticeable increase in churn when load shedding reaches stage 4 and above.

- *Revenue decline*: MultiChoice's revenue in South Africa decreased by 2% (equivalent to R631 million) to R34.99 billion, with trading profit declining by 23% (or R2.5 billion).

- *Investor losses*: MultiChoice investors reportedly lost R32 billion due to the decline in DStv subscribers and the inability to find new revenue sources.

The Zimbabwean Gold (ZiG), the new Zimbabwean currency, was introduced on April 8, 2024 ¹ ². The ZiG is backed by a basket of reserves comprising foreign currency and precious metals (mainly gold). Zimbabweans were given 21 days to convert their cash into ZiG. Here are some key points about the new currency ¹:

- The currency gained 0.2% to 13.53 per US dollar on its second day.
- The introductory exchange rate of 13.56 per US dollar for the ZiG was set by the Reserve Bank Governor John Mushayavanhu.
- The daily exchange rate will be determined in the interbank market from now on.
- The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange said all share prices, price sheets and market reports will now be denominated in the new currency ZiG.
- The new currency notes will be released April 30.
