BLESSING TO BE A BLESSING

And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.-Hebrews 13:16

*Sometimes when we run into some fortune, we forget to share with those in need. Sharing is important to God because it gives you an opportunity to chance a life for the better. I may not have lots of money, food, clothes or jobs to give and sometimes all I have is a kind word, an encouraging word and a prayer to share. Every single being that has life requires kindness to thrive, it may not always be kindness in material sharing but kindness is an opportunity for you to do good with the gift, talent or ability that God has blessed you with. God has blessed me me with the ability of speech and a talent of writing. Which I use as an opportunity to tell others about God's desires for our lives through his Son, Jesus Christ.

A blessing can come in the form of a smile. Some people don't even have to say much, a simple smile from them simply just chances the world. There are people who have never truly experienced a smile from another because all they've ever seen or heard are hurtful things. So much so that when they encounter a genuine smile, it heals them instantly and they immediately begin to see life in a positive way.

It is written in Matthew 7:12; "Do unto others as you want them to do unto you" these words are a reminder to always put yourself in the shoes of another and ask what they need and use it as an initiative to provide for that need. We tend to take our "small" blessings for granted. Doing good starts with the good you do for yourself, if you don't love yourself, you cannot love God and that means you do not understand the magnitude of love you carry are and are created to share with others. We are blessed with life, love, mercy, compassion, kindness, forgiveness etc and when we receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour we receive all these things and more! These are by far the most important blessings to share. So what are you doing with your blessing of life to bless the life of another?

Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing me with eternal life. Thank you that because of Your Son, Christ Jesus, I understand the importance of sharing the love he showed on the Cross through Your sacrifice. Bless me Lord so that I can bless others. Grant me strength to carry out the mandate set for all who believe, and that is to share Your Word with others, the works of Your living word which is Christ our Lord. He was blessed with the gift of public speaking and he changed the world with this blessing at 12 years old! Help me Father to not overlook my capabilities, my talents and gifts for this is where true wealth lies. Grant me all that I need so that I can share Your Word with the others, according to Your will, for the glory of Your kingdom. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

ENJOY LIFE WITH CAUTION

Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.- Ecclesiastes 11:9

*Being young comes with great responsibility. As much as we want to be care free and do everything and anything, we have to ask ourselves, is what I am currently doing glorifying God or those around me?

I have had my rebellious days but I am glad that I got out of them while I am still young. I am glad that I had a backbone to walk away from what I felt was wrong and I stopped seeking the approval of others to live my life the way it was intended to be lived. My life is unique, so why do I have to fit in with a specific crowd? When I can just be myself no matter what people say? I know I live with others but why do we have to be the same?

Sometimes moving away for "the crowd" gets you a better view of what truly makes you happy first. I learnt that the greatest prison we are in, is the fear of what people think. I had to breakdown those prison bars, I just couldn't take it anymore. We forget that we are not created to please man but to please God. And we end up doing things that we are not spiritually happy about but do them physically anyway because its what everyone else is doing. People's opinions, good or bad have been there and will always be there, you just need to prioritise whose opinion matters most and what or who you are truly living for.

Its important to praise God while you are young and still have the energy to do His work because you get so much more out of it, you don't waste time by seeking the wrong things, you are always alert and that way your wisdom increases. And that is the true wealth that we as young people need. I'd rather enjoy that wealth while I am still young so I can truly say I enjoyed every minute of my life with goodness and pure heartfelf joy, and not just temporary physical joy. The only one whose opinion I take into account is that of God's and no one here on earth as the authority to dispute that.

Father thank you for opening my eyes to the importance of glorifing You while I am still young. At times its not easy because of the temptations that arise but I remember that my mind, body, heart and soul is no longer mine but Yours. I'd rather start enjoying the life You have prepared for me now so that when I meet You I have a lifetime of experience in exalting Your name. Glory be to God. Amen.
