Over-explaining is a trust issue with yourself.
When you're actually confident in a decision, you don't need to build a legal case for it. You just do it and let people catch up or not.
The need to explain usually means one of two things. Either you're still trying to convince yourself. Or you're afraid someone's disapproval will make you wrong.
Neither is a good reason to keep talking.
The reality is that some people will never approve. Not because they don't understand—they understand fine. They just don't like your choice. And no amount of explaining is going to fix that. You're not dealing with a communication problem. You're dealing with a values gap.
The people worth keeping around don't need the defense. Everyone else isn't your responsibility.
Make the decision. Live with it. The results will do the explaining for you.
