My Shack

I was reminded that heroes don’t always wear capes. 💛
I often have bruises on my body because of the medication I take for my Spondyloarthritis. They’re part of my normal.
Lloydd and I were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary, lazing around the hotel pool, soaking in the joy of the day. I stepped away briefly, and a waitress gently asked if I was okay. When I said yes, she paused… looked at my thigh… and asked again if I was sure, and if I needed help.
I was taken aback — and then deeply moved.
That moment wasn’t about a bruise. It was about courage. About choosing to notice. About caring enough to ask the uncomfortable question. In a world where gender-based violence so often hides in plain sight, she chose to actively care and actively stand against it.
She may never know how much that meant to me, but for that day, she was a hero.
Let’s be more like her. 💪✨
