Today, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chris Nhlapo, and Prof Marshall Sheldon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, RTIP, along with members of the university leadership and colleagues from across the institution, gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to Prof Elisha Chiware, Director of Libraries, as he concludes an extraordinary 17-year tenure of service at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).

Throughout the farewell, colleagues reflected on Prof Chiware’s remarkable contribution to the university, describing him as a visionary, innovative, and humble leader whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

His leadership transformed the CPUT Libraries from traditional repositories of knowledge into dynamic, digitally enabled, and internationally recognised hubs of information, research, and innovation.

Prof Nhlapo expressed his sincere gratitude for Prof Chiware’s dedication and commitment to excellence, acknowledging the pivotal role he played in positioning the CPUT Library among the leading higher education library systems in South Africa and beyond.

As Prof Chiware embarks on a well-deserved retirement, the CPUT community celebrates a legacy of innovation, service, and excellence.
We thank him for his immense contribution to the university and wish him every success, good health, and happiness in this new chapter of his life.
