Level 5; ages; 40–49 years | Lisa du Plessis 01/08/2018

In 2005 I was asked to assist with a work readiness programme being run on behalf of the department of labor in Gauteng. I had turned 38 the year before and was on the back end of some serious soul searching. Who am I? What is my life all about? I felt I was exclusively without a map and a compass. I am embarrassed to say I felt for a long time, too long, like I was somehow being taught a lesson by life. And I was proving to be a very slow learner. Now I see I was simply moving into level 5. To Create, To Speak, and To Be Heard.

What’s not to love about Thursdays? You can see the weekend over the horizon and the hardest part of the week is behind you. It’s a bit like Level 4, finding freedom and autonomy. Discovering who you are, beyond the parental programming and cultural conditioning of your formative years. This level is about answering the questions; “Who am I? And, “What is important to me?”.

Are you looking for a sign? | Lisa du Plessis 18/07/2018

When we get to the place in our lives when we are ready to make a change it is almost a last resort. Human beings don’t generally love change and that is why we exhaust all options before accepting something needs to be changed. Even then, we long for some confirmation, advice or assistance from any and all sources. “Give me a sign,” we say, “so I feel confident that I have made the right decision”
