Silver Cup Racing 2.0 – Race Report
Car #17 | Mignon "Mimi" Le Roux | Zwartkops Raceway | 11 July

With limited race seat time available this season, we entered Mimi into the Silver Cup Racing 2.0 meeting to continue building her confidence and experience behind the wheel.

Friday's practice marked only her second outing in the 2-door Polo 9N3. Apart from a minor clutch master cylinder issue, the day ran almost faultlessly, allowing Mimi to steadily get to grips with the car's capabilities and build confidence with every lap.

The weekend also marked the debut of the Polo's stunning new Wellnetix livery, perfectly matching Mimi's vibrant personality and bringing a fresh new look to the team.

Qualifying saw Mimi put together a solid performance, placing 15th out of a 26-car field. More importantly, every session saw both driver and team becoming increasingly familiar with the new package.

Race 1 brought another milestone—Mimi's first ever standing start. She settled into the midfield battle well and was gaining exactly the kind of racecraft experience we had hoped for. Unfortunately, the race was interrupted by a red flag, and almost simultaneously an injector wiring connector worked loose, leaving the Polo running on only three cylinders. Despite the setback, Mimi nursed the car home to the chequered flag, avoiding a DNF and banking more valuable experience.

Race 2 looked set to be even better. On a circuit covered in cement dust from the previous category, Mimi launched brilliantly off the line. Sadly, the race came to an abrupt end in Turn 1 when a competitor clipped her nose , sending their car into the driver on the outside and sending that car back across the circuit directly into Mimi's path. With nowhere to go, she made heavy contact with the car.

The most important outcome was that Mimi climbed out of the car completely unscathed. She also showed tremendous maturity and character in the way she handled the aftermath of the incident—something that impressed everyone in the team. Well done, Mimi!

We'll now regroup, repair the Polo, and prepare for the next outing. Mimi will be back in action at Round 4 of the Extreme Festival at Aldo Scribante Raceway, where the sea-level air should give the FSI-powered Polo a welcome boost and, hopefully, allow her to continue the fantastic progress she's already shown.

Silver Cup Racing 2.0 – Race Report
Car #90 | Wayne Spicer | Zwartkops Raceway | 11 July

What a journey this weekend turned out to be!

On the Monday before the race, Wayne Spicer decided he was keen to sample some front-wheel-drive racing, so we put him behind the wheel of the rapid ex- Marius Truter turbocharged Polo for the Silver Cup 2.0 meeting.

Wednesday's practice was a true baptism of fire. The former superbike racer and current V8 Supercar driver had to completely rewire his driving style to suit the aggressive, torque-steering FWD machine. Every session brought progress, and by the end of the day Wayne had worked his way down to a 1:16, leaving us cautiously optimistic heading into the race weekend.
Friday practice and qualifying saw another big step forward. Confidence was growing, lap times tumbled into the 1:14s, and it was clear Wayne was starting to unlock the car's potential.

Race 1 on Saturday started the hard way. Cold tyres caught him out on the opening lap, dropping him to the back of the field in 25th position. Refusing to give up, Wayne mounted an impressive recovery drive through the pack to finish 16th, while lowering his personal best to a 1:13 in the process.

Race 2 looked even more promising after a strong start, but disaster struck again when a car ahead dropped oil, sending Wayne into a spin and once again relegating him to the back of the field. Undeterred, he fought back to 17th place, with the biggest reward coming in the form of another breakthrough lap time—this time dipping into the 1:12s.

Considering Wayne had never raced a front-wheel-drive car before this week, the progress was nothing short of remarkable. The speed is coming quickly, and with every lap his confidence is growing.
Wayne will be back behind the wheel of the Polo for Round 4 of the Extreme Festival at Aldo Scribante Raceway. Before then, we'll fit a more suitable gearbox ratio and a set of grippier slick tyres. With those changes and another weekend of experience under his belt, we're confident he'll be mixing it with the sharp end of the field very soon.

Thank you to Michael Howard for the awesome prep work.

Silver Cup Racing 2.0 – Race Report
Car #21 | Class P | Jonathan Visser
Car #21 rolled straight off the trailer after the previous weekend's outing at Dezzi Raceway and never missed a beat all weekend.

Qualifying went well, with us securing 3rd in Class P and 3rd overall, putting us in a strong position for the day's racing.

Race 1, however, got off to a disastrous start. We dropped back to 5th off the line and, despite pushing hard throughout a race interrupted by a red flag, we couldn't quite recover, narrowly missing out on 4th place to the MRD Cobra and crossing the line 5th in class.

Starting Race 2 from 5th, we settled into the rhythm early on. It was a fairly uneventful race, and despite our best efforts, we finished where we started in 5th place.
A huge thank you to Silver Cup Racing 2.0 for hosting us and putting together another fantastic race day. It was great to be part of the action.

This weekend also marked the debut of two new Wellnetix cars in the Wix-Origen CRT stable. They certainly had their fair share of excitement, and we'll be sharing their race reports very soon!

What an adventure our coastal escapade with KZN Road Racing Club at Dezzi Raceway turned out to be!

Friday was a true baptism of fire as we tackled the tight, short and undulating circuit for the first time. From the outset it was obvious that our heavy, high-powered, long-geared and stiffly sprung Polo wasn't the ideal package against the lightweight local screamers that were perfectly suited to the track. But we kept pushing.

Before race day had even begun, we repaired a cracked exhaust manifold and a cracked oil cooler after the relentless bumps and G-forces took their toll. We were also lucky enough to experience a night practice session on Friday evening—another first for us and an unforgettable experience. A special thanks to Steve Clark and Mario at No Sweat Racing Services for helping us get our machinery going again.

Come qualifying, we put the car 7th overall. A great start to Heat 1 saw us charge into 5th by Turn 2, but disaster struck when the bumps shook an electrical connector loose on our cockpit fuse box. I managed to coast to a safe spot and reconnect it, but it continued to work loose and eventually forced us into the pits.

Starting from the back in Race 2, we had an absolute blast fighting through the field to finish 9th overall and 4th in class. Race 3 delivered one of the highlights of the weekend with an incredible four-car battle, and we brought it home 7th overall and 3rd in class.

A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed and hosted us. You made our first visit to Dezzi Raceway a truly memorable experience. We can't wait to be back!

To Stacey Visser , Michael Howard , Ernest Heather , Philly, Marius Truter , Wimpie Raman , Amber, Morgan, the Watt Watts, Ronald Janse Van Rensburg and Pierre, thank you for all the on and off track support,
