With Provincial Treasury now stepping in to oversee financial controls, the crisis is no longer just about budgets. It is about governance, accountability, and the long-term sustainability of basic education delivery in one of South Africaโs largest school systems.
When departments reach the point where external intervention is required to keep schools funded, what message does that send to learners, educators, and parents about the state of public education?
