Your gynaecology appointment shouldn't feel rushed, intimidating, or leave you with unanswered questions.
Your health matters, and you deserve to understand what's happening in your body.
Some important conversations to have with your gynae include:
馃尭 Is my menstrual cycle normal?
馃ぐ What should I know if I'm planning a pregnancy?
鉂わ笍 What are the best contraception options for me?
馃┖ Which health screenings should I be having at my age?
馃挰 Are the symptoms I'm experiencing something I should be concerned about?
No question is too small when it comes to your health.
I'd love to hear from you: What is one question you've always wanted to ask your gynae?
Leave it in the comments below.

Today the global women鈥檚 health community joins under one phrase: Essential. Not optional.
Sexual and reproductive health and rights are not a luxury, a privilege, or a political bargaining chip. They are healthcare. They are human rights. They are the baseline.
In a time of overlapping crises, climate, economic, political; these are the rights most quietly traded away. They cannot be.
For every South African woman:
Your right to information. Your right to dignified care. Your right to be screened. Your right to be heard. Your right to be safe in a consultation room.
Essential. Not optional.

馃實Today we mark Africa Day, 63 years since the OAU was founded, and a continental theme that lands very close to my work: Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.
For women, this isn鈥檛 policy language. It鈥檚 clinical reality.
Clean water is the difference between a safe delivery and maternal sepsis. Safe sanitation is the difference between a manageable period and an infection. Reliable WASH is the difference between a girl staying in school every month and missing one week in four.
Water and sanitation are reproductive healthcare. Until every African woman has both, the continent鈥檚 women鈥檚-health story is unfinished.
Sixty-three years of unity, integration and development, and the next chapter is one we still write together.
Happy Africa Day.

Today is International Nurses Day. So let me say it clearly: I do not work alone.
Behind every safe delivery, every steady recovery, every reassuring moment in a hospital bed; there is a nurse. They translate medicine into care. They hold hands when words run out. They notice the things we are too rushed to see, and catch them before they become emergencies.
To every nurse at Busamed Modderfontein, and to nurses across South Africa carrying our hospitals and clinics on your shoulders, thank you. We could not do this work without you.
Happy International Nurses Day馃挏馃け

To every mother today; the ones who carried. The ones who lost. The ones who adopted. The ones still on the journey. The ones holding a name and an empty chair. The ones who mother without giving birth at all; the aunties, the godmothers, the older sisters who raised the rest.
The path is different. The love is the same.
Take the rest. Take the flowers. Take the moment. And, when you're ready, take the check-up you've been postponing; for you.
Happy Mother's Day馃挏

Today we pause the medical content, because today belongs to the woman behind the work.
The doctor who has held hands in delivery rooms, answered calls at midnight, and shown up - fully, completely; for every woman who needed her.
Today, we celebrate her. Her passion. Her dedication. Her warmth. The way she makes every patient feel like the only person in the room.
Dr. Esther Rockson; on your birthday, we hope you receive even a fraction of the care and love you pour into others every single day.
You deserve a beautiful day馃巶馃馃挏
From all of us, thank you for being you.
Happy Birthday, Dr. Rockson.

On Workers' Day, we celebrate the people who show up. Every day. Every night. Every 2am call.
This is Dr. Molefi J. Pholo, paediatrician and neonatologist. The person who takes over the moment I place a baby in the world. I bring them here. He makes sure they thrive. There is no greater partnership than that.
To every healthcare worker showing up today - your work is seen. Your dedication matters. Happy Workers' Day馃挏

Today we celebrate freedom.
And in my world; freedom looks like a woman walking into a consulting room and feeling safe enough to ask the question she has been carrying for years.
It looks like a mother choosing how she births her baby. It looks like a woman understanding her own body; her cycle, her hormones, her options, and knowing she has the right to that knowledge.
Thirty-two years of democracy. And still, the most radical thing we can do for South African women is make sure they are informed, supported, and heard. That is the work. Every single day.
Happy Freedom Day to every woman who has ever chosen herself.
