Dust devils on Mars, captured by rovers.
In the first images from the Perseverance rover, we even see two devils one larger, one smaller colliding.
The height of devils on Mars varies from a few meters to a kilometer.
The devils resemble tornadoes on Earth, but are much weaker.
They form when warm air near the surface quickly rises through cold air, creating an updraft. Under certain conditions, the updraft begins to rotate, intensifying due to the physical principle of conservation of angular momentum.
Hot air is drawn to the base of the devil, increasing the rotation. The devil takes the shape of a rotating funnel, through which air rises. As the air cools, the rising air stops, and the cold air outside descends, stabilizing the devil.
