This month, the best players in the world are competing on the world's biggest stage.
But beyond the professional stadiums, soccer has always served a higher purpose: connecting people who otherwise have nothing in common.
For newly arrived refugees, a soccer ball is often the first universal language they share with their new neighbors. No translation required. Just connection.
That’s the driving spirit behind the World Relief Cup hosted by our Western Washington office on June 27th. By bringing the community together, we celebrate our refugee neighbors, support local resettlement and build a future of shared hope and flourishing.
Let's remember that we all belong on the same team.
If you're in the Western Washington area, come out to Valley Ridge Fields in SeaTac on Saturday, June 27, to watch the games, enjoy the festivities and celebrate with us!

Families who have been forced to flee DRC aren’t leaving their faith behind. They’re taking it with them.
In both the U.S. and around the world, World Relief has had the opportunity to walk alongside countless refugee Christians, including pastors from DRC. Their courage and faith is leading them to do amazing things — even in their own difficult journeys, they are caring deeply for others in unique and creative ways. Every day, they’re encouraging us to believe in more.
The support of the global church is vital for pastors like Desiré and John. Your gifts are enabling refugee pastors to make a difference in the lives of countless families across the U.S., in Burundi and far beyond.

When Claudine Mutoni was living in a refugee camp in Rwanda, she believed something better was still possible.
Today, she has a steady job, her own car and bigger dreams still ahead.
After arriving in Appleton, Wisconsin, Claudine connected with World Relief Wisconsin employment specialist Chrisanna Barricklow. She recently celebrated her one-year work anniversary at Vestis, where 19 of 63 employees have been placed through World Relief Wisconsin — nearly 30% of the workforce.
For Claudine, this job means stability and the freedom to dream bigger. She wants to go back to school, build a business career and one day open a restaurant serving traditional African dishes.
"The first time I met Chrisanna, she came to my house and welcomed me," Claudine said. "She asked about my education and helped me get a job."
That's what walking alongside someone looks like. And that's what believing in more looks like.
