Something I keep noticing with families is that everyone thinks the hard part is creating the estate planning documents.

But when something actually happens, the hard part isn’t legal.
It’s logistical.

• Who pays the bills
• Where the insurance lives
• What accounts exist
• Which passwords matter
• Who needs to act first

One thing we didn’t expect when doing customer discovery with families:

Many of them are doing “the right things.”
Some have documents such as a will or a trust.
Most have good intentions to get things in order.

What surprised me most wasn’t what they had done or their intentions.
It was this:
Most of the critical details still lived in their heads.

The breakdown doesn’t happen because families don’t care.
It happens when intention isn’t matched with clarity and access.
And that’s why families struggle most when something unexpected happens.

The people stepping in don’t have what they need to act with confidence.
