magnumphotos: Was there a particular moment, person or work that had the biggest influence on you becoming a photographer?⠀
⠀
Sabiha Çimen (sabakhayr): In terms of influences, I was impressed by my family photo albums. The existence of my twin sister is also one of the main inspirations of my visual life. Like the Kieslowski film, ‘The Double Life of Veronique’, I had the rich experience of seeing myself as two separate bodies, but with the same appearance, as if I had a mirror with me. It almost feels that at the moment when I will pass away, I will open my eyes into her life. I can say that encountering myself at every corner turned my perception of self into a spiritual one in some sense. Family albums, memories, and my double life, within me have shaped my photography.⠀⠀

magnumphotos: What kind of advice would you give to a photographer to help them to become better at editing their own work?⠀
.
John Morris: "In journalism, one first looks for the meaning, the truth that’s involved in the image – does this image show something important? Is it true or false? The composition, the form, which is more of an aesthetic question, comes second. The ideal picture for a story first has to have meaning, and secondly, hopefully, to have form – good composition. Good composition takes the eye to the focal point."⠀⠀
In a Q&A for Magnum, the legendary photo editor John Morris discusses editing alongside Henri Cartier-Bresson, the ethics of war photography and more insights from his seven-decade-long career.⠀⠀
