The country is going backward so fast.

Fellow Liberians, on Thursday December 14, 2023 we told the world the reason behind our recent US State Department visa restrictions. We are pursuing all legitimate efforts to correct the situation.

This is my first official Facebook post, having opened my account a few weeks ago. Let me extend congratulations to His Excellency Dr. George MANNEH WEAH for the opportunity to have served my wonderful country! Huge thanks for recently RAISING LIBERIA ABOVE ALL ELSE . Sir, we forded difficult waters together, but we triumphed in the end! History, not elections results, will be your ultimate judge!

Congratulations also to President- elect Joseph N Boakai. I wish you all the best sir as you take over national leadership!

The second democratic transition in post war Liberia remains on course. The CDC administration is leaving stronger macroeconomic fundamentals than it inherited. We have raised the profile of domestic revenue and the Unity Party would have to sustain this legacy. We are leaving way stronger net international reserves than we inherited. Inflation is lower than we met it. We have resolved and consolidated the messy debt profile of the Government under our recent IMF program. We have paved the way for a second MCC Compact. We have reformed wage. Numerous high profile roads and electricity projects are on course. Over the weekend, the Board of the African Development Bank approved funding for the 48 km road segment between Rivergee and Zwedru. Funding considerations for the Road from Toe Town to Zwedru are well advanced with the World Bank.

How much I wish we had inherited these macroeconomic and project conditions.

But leadership is meant to solve complex problems not to complain about challenges predecessors leave behind. This was why the CDC hunkered down to work and solve problems. Very soon even our critics world convinced.

Let’s keep the peace. Liberia is all we have. We stand ready to protect and defend our legacy. We go into opposition undaunted and proud of our service to country!

Pres. Weah Meets EU Council Chief, Pledges to Work Together on Sustainable Development and Climate Change.

Glasgow, United Kingdom - The President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E Dr. George Manneh Weah on Monday, November 1, 2021, met with the President of the European Union Council, Hon. Charles Michel on the sidelines of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in the city of Glasgow, Scotland.

Beginning 2022, Liberia will join other members of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) for the signing of a seven-year period multiannual financial framework.

The discussions between President Weah the European Union Council Chief is aimed at strengthening Economic Cooperation, and maintain relations with the EU as well as future cooperation possibilities and joint efforts to reach sustainable development and climate.

During the Meeting, President Weah thanked the European Union on behalf of the people of Liberia and in his own name for its continuous support and partnership aim at strengthening relationship and as well as enhancing the spirit of Africa-Europe through the OACPS framework.

For his Part, President Michel expressed his appreciation for the level of commitment and cooperation of the Government of Liberia towards multilateralism and reassured President Weah of future cooperation possibilities and joint efforts to reach climate and sustainable development goals.

It can be recalled that in February 2018, the EU programmed its financial support to Liberia through the National Indicative Program and the 11EDF for the period 2018-2020 with KEY interventions aimed at responding to the government PRO-POOR AGENDA.

Currently, the European Union supports Liberia’s development efforts through direct budget support, infrastructure, sustainable economic growth, Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Agriculture and fisheries, Migration and mobility, Peace and Security, Cooperative investment in Youth through market-responsive education.
