This horrific act is predominantly found in
northeastern Africa, specifically in countries like Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, and Djibouti, where it's perpetuated as a twisted tradition.

It is classified as Type III Female ge***al mutilation by the World Health Organization.

Infibulation is a severe violation of human rights, causing unimaginable suffering and lifelong trauma to its victims. The health consequences are dire, including chronic pain, infections, and excruciating complications during childbirth.

The physical and emotional scars inflicted by infibulation are a stark reminder of the urgent need to eradicate this practice and protect the rights and dignity of women and girls.
