Chifuga

Chifuga is a band that combines the richness of Latin American musical traditions with the energy of psychedelic rock. Formed by two Venezuelan musicians and three French, the band blends sounds and styles from different cultures, creating a unique sound that takes listeners on a sonic journey filled with popular rhythms and contemporary textures.

After years of friendship, Carlos and Miguel decided to embark on a new journey with three talented French musicians: Gilles (Trombone), Gaspar (Keyboards and Sampling), and Ludo (Saxophone). Together, they succeeded in blending the influences of their cultures, creating a sound that transcends borders by merging psychedelic rock with Latin American and contemporary music.
The band was formed in 2023 when the venezuelan musicians Carlos Guillen (Vocals and Drums) and Miguel Romero (Bass and Vocals) gathered in the studio to explore the music of Venezuela's most popular communities, as well as to research stories, tales, Rochela (a type of comedy show), telenovelas, and anecdotes about famous Venezuelan figures.

The result of this collaboration is a "Latin psychedelic rock" sound that leads the listener into a dreamy state, with influences from bands like Café Tacvba, LCD Sound System, Desorden Público, and the sounds of iconic Venezuelan artists such as: 1,2,3 Fuera, La Dimensión Latina, and Los Blancos.

To connect with their global followers, CHIFUGA presents a live video on their YouTube channel. The video shows the band performing three of their yet unreleased songs in a studio setting in the city of Caen, France.

"Sapegato" is a song that tells the story of one of the most feared terrorists, "Carlos THE CHACAL" forcefully showcasing the fusion of Latin American rhythms while creating a sound that transports the listener on a cosmic and realistic journey.

"Chico Maraña" is an Afro-Latino style song with influences from 70s psychedelic music, where sounds blend with synthesizers, sampling, and rhythms drawn from Salsa.

"Pobre Negro" is inspired by the popular Venezuelan novel Pobre Negro. This song expresses through its lyrics the profound issues of African slavery in Venezuela, where misery and pain are part of daily life, along with the lethal cultural changes that the enslaved people endured.

CHIFUGA is not only dedicated to making music but also to promoting a message of cultural unity and mutual respect between Europe and Latin America. Through their compositions, they aim to reflect the beauty of global roots while merging them with the most experimental sounds of rock and contemporary music.
