Honouring a powerful legacy 🇻🇨✨
Gulisi, daughter of Paramount Chief Joseph Chatoyer, is celebrated as one of the heroines of Garifuna history. After the Garifuna were exiled from St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 1797, she rose as a leader in exile and helped establish the settlement of Punta Negra in Belize.
Her story is one of strength, resilience, and cultural pride a legacy that continues to be honoured today at the Gulisi Garifuna Museum.
