Got a stye? Here’s what to do — and what NOT to do.

A stye is an acute infection of an oil gland at the base of an eyelash.

✅ DO: Apply a warm cloth to the closed eyelid for 10 minutes, 3–4 times daily.
✅ DO: See your eye doctor if it doesn’t improve within 1–2 weeks.

❌ DO NOT: Squeeze or attempt to pop a stye.
❌ DO NOT: Ignore a slow-growing painless lump — that may be a chalazion.

Most styes resolve with warm compresses. Those that don’t may need a minor procedure.
