On Monday, 4 May 2026, His Majesty’s Prisons was privileged to address the students of Lodge Village Government School, providing them with firsthand knowledge of the role, duties, training requirements, and real-life experiences of a Prison Officer.

The presentation, delivered by Senior Prison Officer G. Pilgrim and Corporal O. White, was met with keen interest and active engagement from the students.

His Majesty’s Prisons looks forward to continuing this initiative, offering students further opportunities to understand the responsibilities and professional standards required of Prison Officers.

On the Occasion of International Workers Day

Today, as St. Vincent and the Grenadines observe International Workers Day, we proudly acknowledge the dedication and service of the men and women that work within the Prison Service.

In our nation, prison officers and other support teams play a pivotal role in upholding safety, security, and rehabilitation. Within our facilities, their work reflects a deep sense commitment not only to maintaining order but also to support our mandate of rehabilitation, reintegration, and the development of those entrusted to our care.

The responsibilities of the prison staff in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are both challenging and critical. Despite the demands of the role, our officers and staff continue to demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and integrity in service to our nation. Their daily contribution strengthens public safety and supports the broader goals of justice and national development.

On this International Workers Day, we also reaffirm the importance of promoting safe working conditions and investing in the continuous development and well-being of our staff. As an institution, we remain committed to fostering an environment where workers are valued, respected, and supported.
