The Evolution of Front-End Animation, pt. 1.

The Web Has Come a Long Way

From table layouts to parallax scrolling to SVG animation, the web's journey has been anything but linear, and the distance traveled is remarkable.

It started with rigid, table-based layouts that were functional but visually limited. Then CSS matured, JavaScript emerged, and suddenly developers had the tools to make websites move. Parallax scrolling created depth and storytelling. Scroll-triggered animations, hover effects, and motion-based navigation followed. Brands wanted websites that felt clean, interactive, and memorable, and the industry delivered.

Then it overcorrected. Sites became overloaded with animation. Too much movement slowed performance, hurt usability, and distracted users from core conversion goals. The web had come a long way, but it was veering off course.

Today, the pendulum has swung back. The best front-end experiences now prioritize restraint, mobile-first performance, and motion that serves the user rather than showboating for them. Users make engagement decisions within three to ten seconds of landing on a page. Knowing that changes how good front-end work gets built.

Working alongside the incredible team at National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Creative2 built a custom platform that helps law enforcement and internal teams track, analyze, and compare attempted abduction incidents nationwide.

From secure reporting portals to streamlined case management workflows, every part of the system was designed to help teams move faster, collaborate better, and surface meaningful insights from complex data.

Technology works best when it empowers the people doing mission-critical work. This is a project with real-world impact that we are honored to have develop.

Better Workflow --> Better Product, pt. 3.

What You Gain in the Long Run

Once Vim becomes second nature, the day-to-day experience of writing code changes in concrete ways. Need to make the same edit across fifty lines? Vim's macro feature records your actions and replays them instantly. What might have taken several minutes of manual work is done in seconds. Need to jump to a specific part of a file? A few keystrokes and you're there, no scrolling or clicking required.

Pair that with a fully terminal-based setup, where version control, session management, and editing all live in one place. The bigger picture comes into focus. No extra apps to open. No browser tabs pulling your attention. Just the work, and the tools built precisely to support it.

The payoff isn't just speed, though speed is real. It's a workflow that is tailored to you and one where the tools get out of the way and frees you up to spend more time on actual problem-solving and architecture decisions — the high-value work that moves projects forward.
