In some ways this was one of those full-circle moments… I was truly honored to offer training to the Carpenter Place staff and volunteers yesterday. It was a joy to not only teach them new information, but also to learn my own new things from many of them and see the ways they are already caring so well for their teenagers! ❤️‍🩹

April has been a busy month for BrainTLC! I began the month as a breakout speaker at the GWC early childhood conference (where I also had an informational booth). A week ago I held a trauma-informed parenting class where I was able to bless foster parents with free CEUs. And this morning I delivered an inservice to the lovely teachers and staff at Loving Arms Child Care Center!

I had multiple people comment after today’s training that they not only felt better equipped to help the kids in their classrooms, but also learned about themselves. I continue to be grateful for each opportunity to teach this vital information! 😍

Parenting is SO hard. If you are struggling with your child/teen in any way - even if they have never experienced big-T Trauma - the information and strategies learned in this training are incredibly helpful! In our home we use many of these strategies with all of our kids/teens, regardless of their history, and have been so blessed by the outcomes.

This is for bio parents, grandparents, adoptive parents, foster parents, mentors of children - We still have space for this FREE class! The sacrifice of your Saturday will be so worth the benefit to your family! I hope you will join us!

Bruce Willis' wife Emma Heming Willis says 'caretakers need care' amid Gene Hackman death 03/13/2025

“Caregivers need care too.” This is SO true whether they are caregivers of an ailing adult or the parents of a child with trauma or neurodiversity. Mrs. Heming Willis said, “…it is so important that we show up for them so that they can continue to show up for their person.”

If you know someone who is the parent of a child with past or present trauma, it is HIGHLY likely that they are dealing with situations in the home that are much more intense than the “typical” childhood/teenage behavior struggles. Don’t assume they’re not just because they’ve always acted “fine.”

How can YOU show up for these parents so they can more fully show up for their children?

East Point Church of Christ recently asked me to conduct a trauma-informed training for their children’s ministry volunteers. I was thrilled to accept the invitation and even more excited to hear about some of the things they were already doing to offer more wholistic care to all children who come through their doors, regardless of their struggles. Jesus is blessing deeply hurting children through this body of believers. This is what the church is called to do- be the love of Jesus to people and kids who are hurting by seeing THEM and not their behavior. ❤️
