The City of Wichita has issued a Boil Water Advisory.
Customers should observe the following precautions until further notice:
• Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water.
• Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
• Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
• Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
The advisory took effect on October 7, 2021 and will remain in effect until the conditions that placed the system at risk of bacterial contamination are resolved. City of Wichita officials issued the advisory as a precautionary measure due to system-wide low pressure.
Regardless of whether the public water supplier or Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) announced a boil water advisory, only KDHE can issue the rescind order following testing at a certified laboratory.

UPDATE: The council voted to defer this matter until February. Councilman Blubaugh stated that a special election for the issue would be too expensive. While I am happy they voted to defer, my question would be: What's the rush? If a special election is too expensive, put it on the ballot in August or November.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Mere weeks after an election, wherein the question could have been placed on the ballot, for voters to decide, District 4 councilman, Jeff Blubaugh has proposed extending term limits from a maximum of (2) consecutive four-year terms, to a maximum of (3) consecutive four-year terms. Citing that it would be too expensive to hold a special election, for voters to decide, the council, half of whom are termed out, will now decide whether or not to extend the time they themselves can remain in office.
They vote today. Please join us at 9:00am, in protest.

Just more than a month after our most recent election, and before our outgoing mayor leaves office, some members of our city council, serving or entering their final term, have proposed extending their term limits from the TWO terms they are now allowed to serve to THREE. If you agree, as I do, that they should be limited to TWO terms, in order to curtail corruption and better engage democracy, then please sign the petition below.
The petition will be presented to all council members prior to their vote, this Tuesday. However, if you leave a comment, they will get your remarks before then.
Sign the petition: Stop the Wichita City Council I just signed a petition to Brandon Johnson, Council Member, Becky Tuttle, Council Member, Jeff Blubaugh, Council Member, Bryan Frye, Council Member, Cindy Claycomb, Council Member, Jeff Longwell, Mayor, and James Clendenin, Council Member: Shall charter ordinance 235, entitled "A CHARTER ORDINANCE....

I am honored to have received a second letter of support, printed in Sunday's Eagle. With the election a mere three weeks away, these letters help fuel those final few steps to the finish line. Thank you. Thank you.

So honored to receive a letter of support, in the October 10 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
Letters to the editor (Oct. 10, 2019) Thank you
Time and time again my City Council member has voted to close pools, defund public libraries and shift resources away from quality of life initiatives and into the hands of developers. When I'm elected I will protect the resources of our community from the cronyism that has plagued our City Council starting on day one. Help me stand up to City Hall insiders by making a donation to my campaign today! https://secure.actblue.com/donate/beckiejenek?refcode=websitelink
