Pops Custom Calls 2

I know I haven't made any calls or other things in quite some time but I've been going through this thing called life over the last year or so. I am thinking about opening the little shop back up at the end of April so I wanted to sort of put some feelers out and see if there was anything in particular that folks might like to see in the first couple of batches that I make. If you have anything that you may have been waiting on or found that you wish you would have had in your vest this spring just please send me a message and I'll see about getting your request taken care of. I really appreciate those of you that have continued to follow me and will try my best to not disappoint.

I finally managed to get this set finished and polished up today. This is going to a good young man that I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of years ago. Jonathan Treutle thank you for asking me to make these for you.

Got up this morning and decided to spend a day in the shop and get a jump on a couple of donation calls for the Hero to the line PCS fest next month. It consists of a duck call and a pintail whistle and if I have time I will be adding a couple of dog whistles. This is just one of the many things that will be at Anderson Kennels in Huntsville Texas on March 28-29 so make plans to join us.

It has been a while since I have stood behind my lathe and made any calls but when a good friend messages you looking for a call for his son you do everything you can to make it happen. Here it is before going into the oil bath. Thanks as always for your continued support and for staying with me.

It has been a year or so since I fired up the lathe and made anything new. I got a message from a good friend wanting a call for his son, so today I got started on making the blank for said call. He wants it to be red white and blue so decided to layer it from some whistle stock. This is stage one and hopefully it works out as planned in my head.

I'll get some better pictures when it is done but just wanted to show what I've been working on. The gobbler is etched into the backside of the glass keeping the playing surface smooth for calling. The sound board is 1/8" acrylic. It still has to be glued up so will do a sound file after it's done. It will have a matching striker as well. This is a 3" pot so it will fit the ladies hands easily. Thanks for looking.

I still need to refine the process to get them looking a little better but managed to get a couple pretty decent dog whistles made up. The red and blue came from Arin Way and I capped them off with some maple I got from the local cabinet shop I used to work at. They work as hoped because I tested them out on my dog Legend. Not sure if I'm going to give them out at the hero to the line PCS fest in two weeks or just give them to some random kids in the area. Thanks for looking and for your continued support.
