We mourn the passing of Joseph “Big Joe” Carroll ’71, a West Chester University football alumnus and member of the WCU Football Hall of Fame.
At West Chester, Joe played three varsity seasons and earned All-East and State Conference honors. He went on to dedicate 36 years to education and 27 years as a head football coach, impacting generations of students and athletes.
His legacy also lives on through the Valor Bowl, the Chester County all-star football game he co-founded, which raised more than $350,000 for Chester County Special Olympics athletes over two decades.
The Killinger Foundation extends its heartfelt condolences to Coach Carroll’s family, former players, students, and all who knew him.
