This reminds me of the saying that if it was easy, everyone would do it. If you could be debt free, buy whatever you want, everyone would be rich and happy. Paying off debt and making hard financial decisions is not for the weak. Sometimes you have to make very hard choices that you never thought you would have to. But you will never progress by taking the easy route.

Comparing what you have or don't have is harder than most people think. I know when we were struggling, it took us a while to stop caring what others thought or said about how we were spending our money. It is funny when my son comments on someone driving an older car that may have seen better days. I always remind him that it is more than likely paid off and they aren't paying $700+ a month for a car payment. They probably don't care what anyone else thinks! My car is close to 200,000 miles, but it is paid off and still running!
