Is political discrimination the new "Trustbreaker" for democracy in the EU?
Research from WJP’s Eurovoices microdata reveals that political opinion is now the most frequently reported ground for discrimination in 13 of 27 EU Member States.
On average, 14.7% of people in the EU report experiencing political discrimination, a structural threat that impacts both national and local governance.
This analysis, featured in the Global Policy Journal at Durham University e-book “The European Union in an Illiberal World”, was authored by our Director of Data Analytics, Ana María Montoya, Senior Program Associate, Natalia Rodríguez, and Senior Data Analysts, Santiago Pardo and Carlos A. Toruño.
