On National Dog Rescue Day, we recognize the dedicated teams who show up for animals when they need it most. 🐾

Our Rescue Team is trained and ready to respond in times of crisis, deploying to support animals affected by disasters, providing emergency care and helping communities navigate uncertain moments.

From ongoing efforts like the recent Texas rescue of over 100 dogs and puppies to future responses still ahead, this work reflects a deep commitment to protecting animals and strengthening the bond we share with them.

Meet Noceila and her service dog Legion, a powerful partnership rooted in trust, confidence and renewed possibility. 🫡🐾

Through American Humane Society’s Pups4Patriots™, she has been partnered with Legion, a Labrador Retriever after serving in the U.S. Army for more than eight years.

Since being paired, Legion has brought joy, stability and a renewed sense of independence into Noceila’s life. Trained to interrupt nightmares, provide deep pressure therapy and support situational awareness, Legion helps her navigate daily challenges with greater confidence and ease.

“Legion has opened my world in ways I never thought possible,” Noceila shared. “Everyday challenges feel more manageable and I’ve gained the confidence to do more for myself and my family.”

Together, they recently traveled to Washington, D.C., exploring museums and navigating public transportation, an experience that once felt out of reach.

We are honored to be part of Noceila and Legion’s Pups4Patriots journey and proud to support heroes on both ends of the leash. 🎖️

⏰🐕‍🦺 For someone in crisis, every day matters. Right now, 17 veterans and retired first responders are urgently waiting to be paired with a specially trained service dog through our Pups4Patriots™ program. A hero in crisis cannot wait. Donate today.

We continue to lose an average of 17+ veterans to su***de every day, totaling more than 6,300 veterans a year. For the 17 individuals waiting for a Pups4Patriots service dog, that number isn't a statistic; it's the reason every pairing matters and every day of waiting delays their healing.

Demand for service dogs is rising, and wait times at many organizations stretch months, sometimes longer. For those living with post-traumatic stress or traumatic brain injuries, every day they wait is another day without support.

That's where Pups4Patriots steps in. Our program covers the full cost of training and pairing each service dog — more than $30,000 per team — so there's no financial barrier between a veteran in crisis and the help they need.

A specially trained service dog helps reduce anxiety and stress, eases depression and restores confidence. For many heroes, it's the difference between isolation and getting their life back.

Your gift today helps pair the next team and supports all of American Humane Society's other life-saving programs. Donate now ➡️ https://americanhumane.co/help-heroes-in-crisis
