⚠️ Housing Warning – Greenville, SC

Posting anonymously to protect myself, but I feel obligated to warn others.

Please be extremely cautious about renting a room in a 3 bed / 2 bath apartment near Greenville Technical College (Barton campus) that’s being advertised as “student-friendly,” “pet-free,” and “drama-free.”

Based on direct experience and documented proof:
• There was a severe roach infestation that was repeatedly denied and never properly treated, despite photo and video evidence.
• Tenants were forced to throw away most of their belongings due to contamination.
• A large security deposit was paid and has not been returned, even though there was no written lease and tenants were not listed on any official paperwork.
• Dirty, unwashed dishes were taken from the sink and placed back into clean cabinets, creating a serious sanitation issue (documented).
• Trash frequently overflowed, floors were visibly dirty, and common areas were not maintained.
• Mold was present in the air vents, raising serious health and safety concerns.
• Cameras were placed in common living areas (not disclosed in the rental post), and tenants felt monitored while the leaseholder was away.
• Rent money was allegedly used for personal purchases rather than household or property needs, which was verbally admitted and recorded.

This environment was unsanitary, unsafe, and stressful, and caused significant financial loss.

If you are considering renting anywhere, please:
✔️ Get everything in writing
✔️ Ask for pest control and maintenance records
✔️ Confirm camera placement and consent
✔️ Do a thorough walkthrough of vents, cabinets, and common areas

If something feels off, trust your gut. No cheap rent is worth risking your health or your belongings.
