Design projects often take a life of their own, and the most difficult part is visualizing it in your space. Which is why I create mood boards for my clients. The great thing about creating a mood board is it allows you to manipulate objects before you commit. With a mood board, you gain an idea of how the space would blend together especially when you are able to pair the fabrics used in the space with a rug swatch (Tuesday Tip: Use Swatches)
You may remember the inspiration post for this space from Jan 23rd. After revising a few items on the mood board, I decided to go with the hieroglyph rug to compliment the accent chairs and sofa without weighing down the room. Also changing the throw blanket from black faux fur gave the room a more year round vibe, although the fur will be great to pull out when it’s cold. I also changed the throw pillows to create a different mood- more earthy, calm. On the back wall, I added African masks purchased in Ghana in 2010. I am a huge advocate of incorporating pieces that are unique to your story.
We often want our space to come together quickly but honestly it takes time, especially in a pandemic when furniture is often delayed. The space is still coming together, and I will definitely share progress updates. Like I always tell my clients delayed is not denied, enjoy the process!

This weeks Tuesday Tip is about swatches! When you are shopping for furniture always ask for fabric swatches, most stores have them! They are usually free and you can get them in various materials and colors. By taking home swatches it allows you to see how different materials and/or colors will work in your space. For example swipe to see swatches of the items on the mood board.
