Hey Everyone, happy July! I just wanted to remind everyone not to forget about the important summer homeowner checks and maintenance that comes with keeping up a safe and healthy home. An annual HVAC check up will make sure you don't get stuck in the heat of the NC summer, as well as prepare for when it's time to switch to heat. This is a great time of year to schedule an HVAC "tune up".
Powerwash the outside of your home. The pollen is finally over! Now is a good time to clean up. Removing nature's buildup from winter and spring is a great way to preserve your home's exterior and maintain the value of your home.
Prune bushes and cut back decorative landscaping around your foundation and siding. Cut back overhanging tree branches. Try to maintain 12 inches between your landscaping and the surface of your home. Vegetation that touches your home is an easy path for insects and unwanted moisture to invade your home. Overhanging tree branches can lead to damaged shingles and even more damage in the event of a summer storm and downed limbs.
Finally, clean out your gutters. Clogged gutters and downspouts lead to overflow, excess moisture along the foundation, and even long term wood rot to your facia and soffits.
