No one says it better than Jerry Wayne Longmire!!!!

Last night was the final Christmas show of the tour. Most of December I’ve been out with my buddies William Lee Martin and Darren Scully doing these Christmas shows, and every single one of them hit. Just rooms full of people showing up ready to laugh, listen, be part of something.
These shows are harder than stand up. When I’m on the road by myself, all I have to worry about is me. An ensemble show has far more moving parts. Sketches that have to land. Timing that has to be right. Music that has to work. And for me personally, singing still comes with anxiety. That’s something I’ve had to work through this year, especially as my parts have gotten bigger. We did it though.
We had some laughs, got blessed by a Benedictine monk, drank some fine Bourbon even managed to p**s off a few Oklahomans and waited on a 7 minute apple pie in the middle of the night.
Yesterday in Grapevine we played two shows for nearly 800 people, and that was the last show I’ll do in 2025.
I’m taking January off. No miles. Just being home with my family, enjoying Christmas, having a quiet New Year, and putting my energy into some other projects that have been waiting patiently. I’ve put about 25,000 miles on my car this year chasing this thing, I’ve earned the pause I reckon.
There’s a little melancholy in stepping away, even temporarily, because I love this work. I love standing in front of people and trying to earn the laugh. There’s also deep gratitude. This is a rare privilege. To make a living telling stories.
I’m closing the book on the year, grateful and tired, ready to go be still for a minute.
Come February, I’ll find my way to Nacogdoches.
March, I’ll roll into Austin.
Right now I’m still an hour shy of Houston and home keeps looking better the closer I get.
