Finds For the Week

A lovely set of Bramble Blackberry by Wade of England in the 1930s-40s. Pictured here are a jug, open sugar, a berry bowl, and a jam bowl with a lid with a cut out for a spoon.

Wade Industries was primarily known for Whimsies", small porcelain animals. 🐾

The green plate is a vintage Tiara Club Sandwich deviled egg tray. It's a lovely piece made by Indiana Glass.

These items can be found in my Etsy store.

A week for finding pottery. These two pieces are great representations of art pottery in the 1940s and 50s, and both pieces are examples of Nelson McCoy Pottery. The one on the right is known as Palms Leaves and Berries, and the one on the right is an example of the Triple Lily Vase.

I love reading about the items I come across, and since I have acquired several McCoy pieces I found out the following.

Did you know that there are three eras for McCoy Pottery? The company was started by W. Nelson McCoy and W.F. McCoy in 1848 producing stoneware crocks and jars.

In 1933 Nelson McCoy reorganized the company and started producing art ware pottery.

In 1967 the company was sold to David Chase of the Mt Clemens Pottery Co. The letters MCP was added to the bottom of some pieces. When the company was sold again in 1974 to Lancaster Colony Corp. who added a logo marking to the bottom. Throughout this entire time the pottery continued to carry the McCoy name and Nelson McCoy Jr. remained as president until his retirement in 1981.

Four years later after heavy losses, Lancaster sold the company to Designer Accents who ended up closing their doors in 1990.

What a history! Thanks for reading, the above vases can be found on my Etsy site, along with other interesting items.🤓

This time of year is filled with hustle and bustle, never enough time to get everything finished before the final day. I think I have finally caught up with myself and am taking time today to reflect on the past year and look forward to the new year.

There have been the usual trials and tribulations, but all in all, I am taking a moment to be thankful that all of my family is healthy and safe.

Merry Christmas to all!
