I haven't updated here on FB since November! In my defense, FB did permaban me from running ads for no reason and I wasn't big into FB to begin with. But if anyone doesn't follow me elsewhere (my Instagram is a trove of random animal videos with occasional book content, and my Twitter is pure bookness), some updates:

Yesterday Starlight Jewel was entered into SPFBO9 - a contest run by Mark Lawrence in collaboration with 10 fantasy blogs. SJ'll be running up against some really amazing books (299 of them!), some of which I've read like The First Rule by S.W. Hannah and Curse of the Fallen by H.C. Newell, both of which are also dark adult fantasy.

I've entered it into BBNYA as well, though I have no idea how that contest works.

I'm working on chapter 31 of Starlight Jewel's sequel, which I'm pretty sure I'm naming Austringer's Wrath, as it seems pretty fitting for the plot.

I've done a few author interviews, the most recent one was on the Speakeasy with Offer Kuban - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/e-l-lyons/id1679981767?i=1000613166508 I absolutely botched the word "edited," but in my defense, social anxiety lol. I can speak very eloquently to turtles and ducks.

After much delay, for all those who’ve been holding out… Starlight Jewel hardcovers are now available online at Barnes & Noble!

I got my author proof of the hardcover last week, and I must say, it’s quite lovely. The dustjackets are matte, similar to the paperbacks but of course have the inner panels. One panel hosts my photo, a very short bio, and the LyonsPen logo; the other has character descriptions for four of the book’s key characters. Under the jacket is a navy, digital cloth cover. The paper quality in the hardcovers is slightly better than the paperbacks, as expected.

While I’m here, an update on what else is in the works! Author plates are at the printer and near ready for ordering—the designs can be seen on the LyonsPen website home page.

I’ve finished the first nine chapters of Starlight Jewel’s sequel, and revised them a few times. I’m about half done with chapter ten. The rest is outlined and I’m on track to have it at a similar length and pace to book one.

Bad Knack, the fantasy humor side project I’ve had going since Novemberish of 2021, is about ready for publication on Kindle Vella. Once I recover from marketing Starlight Jewel and find a cover artist (Slaughter is unavailable), it’ll be ready to start posting. It’s a series of short stories that is nothing at all like my chonky GotA series. A Cracker Barrel waitress with a tendency to be magically clumsy and her flying carpet finding trouble in small-town life is the gist.

Everyone’s support this last two weeks has meant the world to me, and you have no idea how wonderful it’s been to see photos of the book out in the world!
