Have you ever put something into your ♻ recycling cart without really knowing whether it can be recycled? Maybe your old Christmas lights? 🎄 Plastic hoses or hangers or utensils? 🍴 (Hey, they're plastic, right?)

That's called WISHCYCLING, and though well-intentioned, is unfortunately not a good thing.

Pictured here are commonly "wishcycled" items that contaminate loads in the City's recycling trucks and can cause them to go to the landfill. Remember to ONLY put the following recyclables into your cart:

♻ plastic bottles and jugs (NO bags!)
♻ paper, cardboard, and paperboard
♻ metal cans including aerosol cans
