I played piano since I was 9 years old and always had in home music teachers. My dad taught me to play by ear and I was very involved in the music ministry at my church back in the day. Eventually, I went on to starting my own music teaching business and taught over 30 students at a time for years. I didn’t have an official music degree, but I had experience, knowledge, and a passion for music.

Funny Teaching Moment

I had a 6-year-old student look down at my hands once as I was showing her some notes on the piano and very empathetically say to me: You have such old hands, don’t you?

I was 25 and my hands are naturally veiny. I literally laughed out loud and don’t even remember my response, but I definitely remember feeling old for a second. 🤣
