Hanus Jewelry

Studio experiments. I don't usually make New Year's resolutions but this year is the perfect year to start.

Once I got past the sticker shock of my fine silver going up, I started to feel energized by the challenge. It's an exciting push to explore materials and techniques I've always wanted to work with.
π
Working with torch enamels using powdered glass is just one medium I've explored in the past but never fully pursued. I'll still make my fine silver jewelry - just expanding creatively to see where it leadsπ

Fine silver (.999) is the metal I choose for almost all of my work.
π¨
It's brighter and purer than sterling, and it allows me to forge clean, strong links with a beautiful natural shine.
π¨
Fine silver starts out softer, which makes it perfect for shaping by hand. As I hammer and form each link, the metal becomes work-hardened - increasing its durability and strength. Once forged and hardened, these links hold their shape, wear well and keep that bright finish over time. In fact, I'm happy to say I have quite a few customers that wear their bracelets daily.
π¨
Every link, shaped, closed, forged, textured and strengthened one link at a time.

Hand-forged fine silver with spiny oyster shell and turquoise - a vibrant material sourced from a sea mollusk (not an oyster).

Fusing the shell with natural turquoise and copper gives the stone its warm oranges and cool blues.

These will be available in a couple of local shops soon - DM me for details in the meantime.
