Over 55 years ago, while in the middle of his speech, notable African gospel singer Mahalia Jackson shouted “tell them about the dream, Martin!” From that point forward, Dr. King went from activist speech to delivering one of the most impactful freelance speeches ever delivered as only a pastor of his stature could! While we haven’t arrived at the shores of his dream, today and everyday is a reminder of how far we’ve come and what still needs to be done.

I implore you: be good to those around you. Stop seeing skin color and start seeing people as wonderfully diverse. We are a nation of different colored people and all the colors are equally beautiful! Treat people with humility and kindness. Be patient. Be kind. Forgive those you need to forgive. Keep moving in the right direction, if not for you, then do it Dr. King’s memory! One day, all the nations will live and love as one.
