to last month’s author visit with Will Quam, architecture photographer and historian. Attendees explored the surprisingly fascinating history of Chicago’s brick architecture as Quam shared stories and insights from his book, "Fire and Clay: How Brick Reveals the Hidden History of Chicago." Thank you to everyone who joined us to learn how a simple building material helped shape the city’s history, character, and skyline.
Want to dive deeper into Chicago’s hidden history? His book, "Fire and Clay: How Brick Reveals the Hidden History of Chicago" is now available in our catalog.

The Main Library Gallery is awash in color and intricate stitching right now!
The RiverSong exhibit, curated by Oak Park artist Lindsay Olson, is a collection of quilts by members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. Illinois and Wisconsin region. Each quilt explores aspects of the Mississippi River Basin, the vast and intricate watershed that spans one-third of North America.
These few photos don't do justice, so come see the full collection through June 27, and join a reception and gallery talk on June 4.
