Although I interpreted the post about jokingly, the reality is that all music, because it is such an intricate part of our lives, stirs some type of emotional response. IMO I don’t think it would be considered “good music” if it didn’t. 2 Things (1) For Gospel/Christian music, I’m looking for the “theologically soundness” of the lyrics. Singing random lyrics that may move the soul but is not aligned with scripture is “false teaching.” (Don’t @ me 😂). (2) We need to be more of a supportive presence and create space and opportunity for non-judgmental listening, which will allow people to open up to share how they really feel. The truth is there are a lot of people IN THE CHURCH, who are battling depression, anxiety and loneliness and have no outlet to just talk without you giving pseudo counsel…! So the response of the music is not so much the music itself, but a space has been created to release emotionally what has been bottled up inside. Let’s pray more for one another and be like Job’s friends (Job 2:11-13) who just sat with him without a word and cried with him. Everybody is not as strong as you pretend to be. Love y’all 🙏🏾
