🚨 HOT WEATHER PSA 🚨

Every year, we see the same comments.

💬 “He has shade.”
💬 “She has water.”
💬 “I was only gone for a few minutes.”
💬 “It’s Michigan. It’s not that hot.”

But every year, dogs still suffer from heatstroke.

When temperatures climb into the 80s and 90s and humidity kicks in, it can become dangerous fast. Dogs don’t cool themselves the way humans do. Once they begin to overheat, things can go downhill quickly.

🐾 Please leave your dogs at home.

That quick trip to the store.
That stop for coffee.
That errand that will “only take a minute.”

Leave them home.

🚗 A parked car can become deadly in minutes—even with the windows cracked.

🌡️ Hot pavement can burn paws.

☀️ During a heat advisory, dogs belong indoors where it’s cool and safe.

🚨 Know the warning signs of heatstroke:

• Excessive panting
• Heavy drooling
• Bright red gums
• Vomiting
• Weakness or lethargy
• Staggering or loss of coordination
• Collapse
• Seizures

Heatstroke is a medical emergency. If you suspect a dog is overheating, seek veterinary care immediately.

📢 If you see a dog locked in a hot vehicle, report it.

📢 If you see a dog left outside in dangerous heat and showing signs of distress, report it.

📢 If you see something that doesn’t look right, don’t assume someone else will make the call.

Dogs can’t open the car door.

They can’t move themselves into air conditioning.

They can’t call for help.

They are completely dependent on the people responsible for them.
