The 2020 AIA Cleveland Design Awards People's Choice voting is now open! Follow the link below to learn more about the projects submitted to this year's Design Awards program and to vote for your favorites. Voting is open to everyone up until Thursday, November 5th at 11:59pm EST.

You can vote for 1 project in each of our 6 categories every 24 hours. We suggest a donation of $1 per vote which will go to one of three deserving organizations our program will benefit in 2020. Donations are only suggested and not required to vote. Donations will benefit ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland, NEOCH, and NOMA CLE.

Today we celebrate the distinguished life and exquisite work of local architect Richard Fleischman, FAIA, who sadly passed away last Saturday.

Richard was a brilliant thinker, leading modern designer, and motivator of talent. He led one of Cleveland’s most respected design firms with local, state, and national award-winning projects spanning at least five decades.

I loved my time working with Richard as a young designer, project architect, and junior partner. We crafted modern homes on the lake in Bratenahl as well as churches and prestigious civic buildings across northern Ohio. Richard’s mentorship greatly impacted my sensibilities as a designer and he continues to influence our work at Christopher @ Architects LLC. In more recent years, I enjoyed seeing him at church and keeping in touch with him.

I borrow a couple of images from his website to share here so that we can all celebrate Richard. Rest in peace, Richard. We will miss you.
