May 4, 2026 Update: Sylvester is still in foster care and progressing well. He still scores high marks as a sweet and precious boy! As of the end of this month, he will need a new foster home. We'll post some new photos and more about his progress soon!

April 17, 2026 Update: Sylvester was seen by a vet and went into foster care with a wonderful foster. At last check, this sweet boy was progressing well and we’re looking forward to the day when he will be ready to move to adoptions!

Barstow, CA. VET CARE FUNDS / RESCUE HELP NEEDED. Underweight, Sylvester is a sweet kitty that is not faring well living outside. His feeder said, “He has so much life and love in him.” But now, Sylvester is sick and needs medical care that his feeder cannot provide.

Underweight, he has had a cough for the past five days. His feeder said it is not a normal cough and it sounds painful. He may have dental issues. He cannot eat dry food unless it is mixed with wet food and water.

Affectionate and sweet, his feeder can easily pick Sylvester up. He tries to go into peoples’ homes as if begging to stay. He dashes into the feeder’s home even when the dogs are there. Possibly abandoned, Sylvester has been fed on the Barstow property for about two years.

We’re full and out of funds, so we cannot take Sylvester in. In the meantime, donations are needed to get him to the vet. Any donations for Sylvester will be applied to his care. If a rescue can take Sylvester, we can help arrange his transportation.

UPDATE 1/13/26 7:29 pm: Lily went to the vet and was there most of today. They did some additional imaging and gave her two different pain medicines to keep her comfortable. The vet did not do the surgery today because he now suspects possible cancer. For further diagnostics/treatment, tomorrow morning, Lily will be transported to another vet who is already familiar with her case. Thank you to everyone for your kind words, sharing, donations, and caring. We will update you again tomorrow.

Apple Valley, CA. VET FUNDS NEEDED NOW OR LILY WILL NOT SURVIVE! If you look at the photos, you will know Lily is suffering due to the huge growing lump on her nose and forehead. The vet believes Lily does NOT have crypto or cancer, and said surgery is needed to clean out the debris that is causing the immense swelling in her face. Because Lily’s condition has declined, he wanted to do surgery on Lily today (Monday, Jan. 12), but we lack funding to cover her surgery. We’re concerned that the vet may recommend euthanasia if Lily cannot have surgery ASAP. Recent estimates for surgery are $1,500 - $1,600.

Lily is drinking a lot of fluid, but has stopped eating and it has become difficult for anyone to catch her in the house. Lily’s human mom, who is partially disabled, does not have sufficient funding for even a portion of the surgical bill. The family cannot afford to run heat in the house, except for a room they are in.

We previously paid Lily’s bills for antibiotic and steroid shots as well as diagnostic imaging. With ongoing vet bills for cats in our care, we cannot afford to help Lily further without YOUR help.
