I've always been a cheap sunglasses kind of guy. Somewhere along the way... after countless lost pairs... and countless broken pairs... I listened to ZZ Topp and integrated the gas station/dollar style of sunnies (that's what my kids call them) into my persona. But that doesn't mean I like it. Truth be told... I've always wanted some really nice, fashionable sunglasses, but... I've been scared to buy any because I know my established tendency to lose or break them.

But I think my tendency to lose or break them is based on my tendency to buy "cheap" sunglasses themselves. I'm pretty sure if I buckled down and bought a nice pair, I'd take quite good care of them.

I was a nervous wreck just handling these when trying to get this photograph. All I could think was, "Don't break them, don't break them, don't break them..." and then at the end of the shoot, I literally double-checked my back seat to make sure I hadn't left them on set.

It's crazy how your mind works. My association with losing or breaking sunglasses is that strong.

Anyway... I got the photograph I wanted. I haven't bought the sunglasses I want yet though. I'm not there yet.

Maybe one day?
I hope so.

I'd love to shift the sunglasses aspect of my persona from clumsy and forgetful to someone who trusts himself with nice things.
