I have always said that the best days for America are right up ahead of us. Karen and I have tried never to look at things through rose-colored glasses. We have tried, by the Spirit of the Lord, to give Him the best of our prayers, our expectations, and our hearts for this land.

We endeavored to agree with the Lord for the best — not to come here to just be what we always had been. Our heart was to come to be a complement and a blessing. We wanted to bring a supply, and in the years that followed, to partner with others for the good of this great experiment called the United States of America!

You see, it's truly not what has happened behind us — it's what will happen right up ahead of us! And I believe that we are living in days where we are beginning to see revival again. We're beginning to see those embers being blown upon again — to see the fire of Heaven begin to blaze again in the hearts of men and women!

These are not things that we read in history books of great intellect in scholarly houses of this land. These are verses from our Bible that sits on our nightstand!

I do believe that the greatest days for this land are right up ahead of us! You see, if the enemy could take away hope from you, that's exactly what he would want to do, because he knows that if he can make America sick with no hope, then he can rob America of her future. And that's why it's important that we never allow hope to slip away from our hearts! Scripture says that our expectation will never be cut off! (Prov. 23:18)

So even though we've been handed a great legacy and future, we must now be faithful caretakers of that inheritance. We will not rubbish what others who came before have given us! We will take it and grow it into something that is greater!!

We will not always look back at the haunts and the horrors of the worst times of history. Instead, we will walk in God, knowing that in Him, no matter how dark it is, we have the ability to flip it around — because darkness will never, EVER put out the light!

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (John 1:5 NLT)

If we look back over these past 250 years as a nation, we don’t just see revolutions and reforms, parties and policies. We also see something else — something deeper. We see waves of revival! We see times when the Holy Spirit moved across this land like a rushing wind and changed the course of the nation….

Before America was even officially a nation, God was already stirring hearts.
In the 1730s and 1740s, what we now call the First Great Awakening swept across the colonies. Churches were sleepy, formal, and often cold. But God lit a match!

Jonathan Edwards preached about sinners in desperate need of mercy, and yet he also wrote of the joy of revival… George Whitefield carried the Gospel on horseback, preaching to crowds in open fields. People wept, repented, and rejoiced as the Holy Spirit convicted hearts and brought them to Christ.

Later, in the early 1800s, the Second Great Awakening blazed through camp meetings and frontier towns. At Cane Ridge and beyond, thousands gathered under open skies as preachers proclaimed the new birth. Prayer meetings multiplied. Songs and shouts of praise echoed through the night. The Spirit’s fire ignited movements for evangelism, missions, and social reform.

These awakenings weren’t just religious “moments.” They reshaped lives, families, and communities! They remind us that God has, time and again, reached into American history and said, “Wake up. Return. Live!”

And He has not stopped!

Over the years, we have seen holiness revivals, healing campaigns, Pentecostal outpourings, Charismatic renewals, and modern prayer movements — all signs that the Holy Spirit has not abandoned this land.

Jesus promised in John 16 that the Holy Spirit would “convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment” and that He would guide us into all truth. The same Spirit who descended at Pentecost still descends on people today!

One revivalist observed, “Revival is nothing else than a new beginning of obedience to God.” It is God breathing again on His people, restoring what was dry, reigniting what had grown cold.

So yes, we must be honest about our history — about sin and injustice, about missteps and misdeeds.

But we must also be honest about something else: Our history is threaded with mercy. Again and again, when the nation drifted, God poured out His Spirit when people cried out to Him.

If He has done it before, He can do it again!!
If there was a First Great Awakening and a Second, why not another?
Why not in our time?
In our cities,
in our churches,
in our children!... 🙏
