Protect your skin to avoid frostbite.
When your skin is not properly protected from the wind and freezing temperatures, frostbite can occur. The aresa of the body most susceptible to frostbite for roofers are the ears, nose, fingers and toes. You will know if you have frostbite because the afftected part of your body will suddenly lose feeling and ultimately turn white, yellow and eventually turn to blue or black.
***If you or a member of your crew gets frostbite, immediately raise the temperature of the body extremity in tepid water and call for emeergency help.

Winter Roofing Tip:
If your chimney has not had a recent inspection, schedule one before you use your fireplace for the first time this winter.
A wood-burning fireplace or stove can get creasote buildup, which can block the flow of smoke, causing chimney fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Also, unused chimneys can develop cracks that can weaken the structure of your home.
